A message today from our Unit Commander on Monday, 6 June 2016:
“Like much of the coast from North of the Queensland border and continuing on down the South coast of New South Wales, our Terrigal Haven Base took a pounding on Sunday with the deadly combination of extreme East coast low, a massive swell and a KIng timel
We have sustained quite a bit of damage and loss. Our fuel barge is beyond repair, the small tender is badly damaged and the motor has been submerged. Our inshore RIB TG10 survived with minor damage and will need a major clean up.
The premises are being made secure today and a structural engineer has been engaged to assess the building for repair or demolition.
This is a massive setback for our volunteers who have been working tirelessly all year to upgrade the base, with a new radio room and training facilities only recently completed. All of this work is funded by contributions of our volunteers, and the generous support of the community with our various fund-raising activities.
Now is the time for us to ask for a bit more from our supporters, and ask that those of you who rely on our volunteers to be there for them in an emergency to consider either making a donation, or advertising right here on our community service site, which has been built, hosted and maintained free of charge by our sponsor hosting company.
Thank you all for your support. We will rebuild and move on.”
